Serve175

175 acts of service in 90 days in commemoration of 175 years of Pathfinder Church.

From Monday, April 6, through Saturday, July 4, we will be actively serving needs in our community, striving to exceed 175 acts of service! So we want to encourage you to get some friends and family members together and plan an act of service to benefit the community around us!

Examples of an act of service could be: cleaning up a neighborhood park, pulling a group together to volunteer at your favorite non-profit, helping an elderly or sick neighbor with yard work, bringing a meal to someone in need, providing respite for a caregiver who needs a break, calling your municipality and asking if they have any residents who need help, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

What constitutes an “act of service”?+

Each act of service should include three key elements:

  1. Intentional effort. This goes beyond a quick or spontaneous act of kindness. It should take some thought, time, or sacrifice. It doesn’t need to be complicated, but it should be meaningful.
  2. Done together. Serve with others, like family or friends. This is an opportunity to build community while serving the community.
  3. Focused outward. The goal is to meet needs outside of your household and outside of Pathfinder. While serving within your family or church is important, this initiative is about extending that care into the broader community.

Examples could be, cleaning up a neighborhood park, pulling a group together to volunteer at your favorite non-profit, helping an elderly or sick neighbor with yard work, bringing a meal to someone in need, providing respite for a caregiver who needs a break, calling your municipality and asking if they have any residents who need help, etc. For a full list of ideas, visit the document linked below.

I’ve done my act of service; how does it get counted?+

Once you’ve completed your act of service, we want you to log it here! If you don’t log it, we won’t be able to count it, and we won’t hit our goal! A picture of your group is a must! You’ll also provide a short description of what you did and a few other details, such as who was involved. Once it’s reviewed, it’ll be numbered and added to the completed projects gallery.

What if I need service?+

If you know someone who could use some help, you can request help at pathfinderstl.org/care.

Please note that our volunteers may not be able to provide service that requires special skills or expertise.

What happens if we don’t hit the 175 goal in 90 days?+

The 90-day window is meant to give us focus and urgency to bless our community. If we don’t get to 175 in the 90-day window, no worries, we’ll keep serving until we exceed our goal! But imagine the power of moving together to bless our community within 90 days!
