We collect empty steel food cans for Leukemia 24/7. Zick's Great Outdoors, a plant nursery at Clayton and Strecker, is a collection station. "Steel is a big deal at Zick's" is a sign displayed there, where steel is collected. Leukemia 24/7 is a childhood leukemia nonprofit founded by owner Doug Zick's son Todd, who suffered from leukemia and died as an adult. Part of the nursery is dedicated to storing steel items until pickup, including refrigerators and other large pieces. A sign lists donation steel products. I clean and store cans until I fill about two grocery bags, then drop them off at Zick's. All proceeds fund childhood leukemia initiatives.
