Each act of service should include three key elements:
- Intentional effort. This goes beyond a quick or spontaneous act of kindness. It should take some thought, time, or sacrifice. It doesn’t need to be complicated, but it should be meaningful.
- Done together. Serve with others, like family or friends. This is an opportunity to build community while serving the community.
- Focused outward. The goal is to meet needs outside of your household and outside of Pathfinder. While serving within your family or church is important, this initiative is about extending that care into the broader community.
Examples could be, cleaning up a neighborhood park, pulling a group together to volunteer at your favorite non-profit, helping an elderly or sick neighbor with yard work, bringing a meal to someone in need, providing respite for a caregiver who needs a break, calling your municipality and asking if they have any residents who need help, etc. For a full list of ideas, visit the document linked below.
