We volunteered at Helping Hand-Me Downs and sorted children's clothes and shoes, pre-packed bags to go out to mamas, and packed up feeding kits for toddlers. Helping Hand-Me Downs provides donated children's clothing and accessories to families who cannot purchase these items themselves. This is done through social workers. Helping Hand-Me Downs is near and dear to my heart because my younger daughter was a single mom for at least eight years and she, also, couldn't afford clothing for her children.. I've always supplied their clothes, so I know what a need there is out there for such a service. Single mom struggle with a lack of childcare, high rent, and, often, low-wage, dead-end jobs, so their salaries don't begin to cover all that is necessary to function. Helping Hand-Me Downs fills this desparate need, so it's one of my favorite non-profits, and I volunteer there often because I believe so much in what they do!
