Helping Hand-Me-Downs (HHMD) was named the charity of choice, for the second time in a year, to receive donated leftover items from the Just Between Friends (JBF) Kids' (consignment) Sale in South County. HHMD staff and volunteers headed to Kennedy Recreation Center in South County to pack up the donations. We removed tags from all the kids' clothing, took the clothing off hangers, and sorted items by gender and size. JBF South County hosts two kids' sales per year, one for fall clothes in August or September and one for spring clothes in March or April. In addition to clothing, HHMD volunteers packed kids' books, toys, stuffed animals, and baby items like baby wraps and bottle warmers. I also helped tear down JBF shelving so HHMD could pull their truck up to the door and load boxes. HHMD is a local non-profit in Ellisville that supplies kids' clothing, shoes, toys, books, and other items to families who can't afford to purchase them.
